Eventless...
Just got back from vacation....was great.
We went to a place in Arkansas of all places, the "Natural State" as they call themselves. Let me confirm the nickname, it was quite "natural" as there was absolutely nothing there to do. Ahh, my complaints; it was a marvelous vacation despite the lack of entertainment. Sometimes you just need a break during which the most exciting thing happening is the next chapter in the book you're reading.
We went up to Missouri to buy beer, forty-five minutes away was the nearest non-dry county. We hung out by the lake, I fished and caught three all week, we read, we watched movies and got a lot of relaxation. We visited Mammoth Spring, saw a sunken cave, stopped by one of the country's largest fish hatcheries, and dined on fried catfish for a mid-afternoon lunch. We saw a flock of wild turkeys, countless deer, and several red-headed woodpeckers.
As I haven't written in a while, I thought I'd mention a few things I've been doing. Working, working, and working is the norm. A got into school, then got a graduate assistantship that waives her tuition and pays her to go to school - great job! I've been doing really nothing mentionable except getting used to life in suburbia with all its cookouts and yard sales, new neighbors and lawn watering.
The beagle and the cat are doing quite well. Fighting and getting into as much trouble as possible. Why just now Lucy (beagle) stuck her nose into a wad of shredded documents out of my office trash can and managed to scatter them all over the place, and brody recently kiled a bird and delighted in bringing it to our doorstep, as proud as he could be.
Tonight I believe we are headed to one of A's new friends' houses and meeting up with several other people I don't know and going downtown. We meet up at nine pm. Am I getting too old or is that entirely too late to start an evening rendevous? Too old right?
Well, that about does it, time to go get a nap (yes, old) in before we paint the town.
Too-duh-loo....
